Greenville County Schools announced the 10 finalists for 2022-23 Teacher of the Year on April 1. Superintendent Burke Royster surprised each teacher with the news.
Betsy Shouse, community support specialist with GCS, said the list was pared down from 95 teachers, one being named from each school and facility. She said the district recommends teachers complete a written application, which then goes on to a screening committee. Judges score the applications and take the 10 best; the winner will be announced in early August.
“They are dedicated educators,” Shouse said. “They believe in the power of molding young minds.”
Finalists received a $100 Visa gift card from Greenville Federal Credit Union and a Rocketbook smart notebook.
