The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club announced Sept. 16 it has launched its search for a coach to lead its newly formed women’s team.
Once hired, the new head coach/technical director will lead the-day-to-day team operations as well as take the lead in activities such as:
- The club’s youth programming
- Fan development
- Community relations initiatives
In addition, the full-time coach position will report to Club president Chris Lewis.
“We see this position being the first in a number of opportunities for women and girls in the Upstate to get more deeply involved with the game and our Club,” said Lewis. “We envision the women’s team serving as a platform for women and girls to get practical experience in sports while serving as a platform to launch careers as both athletes and front office executives.”
The team plans to hire a coach by the start of 2022, if not before, and recruit a roster of players in early spring, said Triumph vice chairman and chief brand officer Doug Erwin.
The women’s team will also announce its name and branding later in 2021 and will begin to play in May 2022 as part of the USL’s W League.
All home games for both the Greenville Triumph men’s team and the unnamed women’s team will be played at Legacy Early College and once plans are finalized for a permanent stadium, both teams will play there with equal facilities, space and resources.
