Renovations will soon be underway to transform the dining hall at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities.
The estimated $1 million project is currently in the design phase. The Governor’s School hired Batson Associates Inc., a Greenville-based architectural firm, to design the upgraded dining space.
“The creation of this new space for our students combined with the commitment to community by Batson Associates Inc. was just a natural fit for us for this project,” said Betsy Beam, the school’s vice president of finance and administration.

The school’s interior and exterior dining areas will be renovated to increase seating capacity and elevate student’s dining experience. Optimized seating arrangements and areas for additional meal options will be added to the dining hall.
Nicole Lindemer, a senior project architect, said every aspect of the dining room design focuses on enhancing both the dining and communal atmosphere.
“Our goal is to create a dining hall that goes beyond functionality, offering a welcoming and vibrant space where the school community can gather, collaborate and connect,” Lindemer said.
Renovations are expected to begin in spring 2025 and be done by fall 2025. PFA Engineering, Carolina Engineering Solutions and Fuller Group LLC were hired to complete the project.
