Spoonbill Gallery to host ‘Curiosities’ exhibition

“Curiosities” will open Oct. 2 at Spoonbill Gallery in Greenville.

The exhibition, which features works by mixed media artist Traci Wright Martin, will be at 1292 Pendleton St. through Oct. 31.

Martin’s works use charcoal and are enriched with pastel, paint, collage, textiles and other mixed media. This collection is inspired by the birds and wildlife that visit her own backyard, said the gallery in a news release.

“Curiosities grew from the simple act of paying attention,” said Martin. “The more time I spent observing the wildlife around me and folding paper by hand, the more I realized that curiosity isn’t about finding certainty. It’s about remaining open to unexpected connections and allowing wonder to shape the way we see the world.”

Spoonbill Gallery will hold a First Friday reception Oct. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. to celebrate the new collection.
