Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County has spent the past 40 years building new affordable housing in Upstate South Carolina.
The nonprofit organization recently closed out its anniversary year by celebrating the completion of a new affordable home at 600 Pendleton Road in Parker. The single-family home was dedicated to the Gerald family on Sept. 23.
LaTonya Phillips, CEO of Habitat Greenville, said in a statement that the dedication ceremony was a chance to thank everyone who has made the organization’s 40 years of service possible, including donors, volunteers, partners and staff.
“We started this anniversary year with a simple belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live, and it feels right to close it out the same way we began: building a home alongside a family in our community,” Phillips said.
In addition to the anniversary build, Habitat Greenville recently completed its first duplex project at 101 Sturtevant St. The organization has started to focus on building more multi-family homes to meet the rising demand for affordable housing in Greenville County.
Habitat Greenville has constructed more than 430 affordable homes since 1985. For more information, visit habitatgreenville.org.
