Fountain Inn city leaders, community members and individuals who have invested in redeveloping a former Fountain Inn flour mill gathered together to break ground on the project on Feb. 28.

The redevelopment project at 100 Ellison and Wall streets, The Mill at Fountain Inn, has been a project nearly two years in the making, said Co-owner Bryan Beal of B&B Real Estate Company.

“This is a little bit of an emotional day for me,” said Beal. “I met [City Administrator] Shawn [Bell] for the first time two years ago [in] February 2021. We came down here [and] did a driving tour of all of Fountain Inn. It might sound cliché but I fell in love with the city that day and it’s only grown over the last two years. Oddly enough, this was the last place we drove by.”

With construction starting, The Mill at Fountain Inn will utilize the property’s three buildings to house:
- A 15-tap brewery inside the 6,476-square-foot two-story space facing Ellison Street.
- A common area seating space in the middle structure, which served as the flour mill’s production area.
- The last building will feature six walk-up restaurants.
The property will also feature a green space with stadium seating and a stage behind the three buildings.
The Mill at Fountain Inn’s opening is expected to take place in either fall 2023 if the brewery opens first or by the end of 2023 if all three buildings are opened at the same time, said Beal.
This is a developing story and more photos and videos will be added.
