Renovations to the Labor and Delivery Center at Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside are getting a boost thanks to a $500,000 donation from the AFL Foundation.
The donation was announced during a check presentation ceremony July 23 and will help support improvements throughout the Freissle Family Women’s Center to enhance the experience of mothers, newborns and families across the Upstate.
The renovations will include aesthetic enhancements throughout the center, a redesigned lobby, and upgraded soundproofing measures to create a more comfortable and welcoming environment. The work is expected to take from six to nine months.
In a statement announcing the contribution, Grant Burns, executive vice president and general counsel of AFL and chair of the AFL Foundation, said the region’s population growth is driving the need for more modern facilities and advanced technologies.
“We appreciate Bon Secours St. Francis for allowing AFL to be part of something that will make a lasting difference in our community,” Burns said. “We hope this gift helps create positive experiences for families for generations to come.”

In recognition of the foundation’s support, the labor and delivery center within the Freissle Family Women’s Center will be renamed.
