Here’s a recap of Greer City Council’s Oct. 28 meeting:
Approved: $986K bid for South Tyger Greenway Trail
Council unanimously approved awarding a $985,881 bid for Phase I work on the South Tyger Greenways Trail to Foothills Contracting Services LLC.
The trail will improve access to the South Tyger River and will eventually connect Country Club Road Park, Greer Golf and Greer High School. This initial phase will involve installing about 1,000 linear feet of concrete trail and about 350 feet of boardwalk.
Five companies offered bids for the project, funding for which will come out of the city’s real property fund.
Approved: Rezoning of property on Bennett Center Drive
Council approved the first of two required readings of an ordinance changing the zoning classification of a 2.4-acre parcel at 300 Bennett Center Drive from office professional to medium density residential.
The property owner, Bennett Center Ventures LLC, is seeking the rezoning to allow for a townhome residential development project. The proposal was approved by the city planning commission following a public hearing Oct. 20.
Final reading for the ordinance is expected to come before council in November.
