The Upstate Mediation Center announced Sept. 11 Greg Ward, founder of Bridge City Coffee, was named its 2023 Peacemaker.
Ward was nominated for how Bridge City Coffee worked to transform the for-profit business model by creating a people-centric, three-tier, impact-based business model focused on:
- Fostering meaningful relationships with coffee bean farmers.
- Prioritizing staff development with a growth mindset, active empathy and a pursuit of excellence.
- Serving as a bridge for nonprofit community partners.
“Upstate Mediation Center, a steadfast advocate for peaceful resolutions and unity in the face of conflict, is proud to honor Gregory Ward as our 2023 Peacemaker,” said Jennifer R. Olmert, executive director of the Upstate Mediation Center. “Mr. Ward’s efforts with Bridge City Coffee seamlessly align with the ideals of the Peacemaker Award and UMC’s mission. His dedication to healing divisions and building a better community through an inspiring business model embodies the spirit we champion.”
Ward will receive the award at UMC’s Peacemaker Celebration Oct. 17 at Endeavor in downtown Greenville. His name will also be added to a plaque recognizing past award recipients on the Peacemaker Bench in Cleveland Park.
