It may be a little early to put up a tree but it’s just the right time to get into the festive spirit.
Christmas markets have begun popping up around the Upstate. Kicking off the season is the Judson Mill District with its first holiday market which began Nov. 6. The market is inspired by “The Polar Express” and takes place in the Annex at 701 Easley Bridge Road.
Fluor Field will host Reedy’s Winter Wonderland Dec. 19, coinciding with Greenville County School’s winter break. The wonderland will feature a laser light show, carnival rides and holiday shopping. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit local nonprofit GVL Together with a Home for the Holidays drive also in organization.
“In addition to buying tickets to come have fun, they’ll have an opportunity to give back to GVL Together, which is an initiative of the United Way of Greenville County to help support our homeless community,” said Greenville Drive President Jeff Brown. “They need our help all the time, and they really need our help around the holidays.”
This year will also see the return of the Village Christmas Market in West Greenville, which started at the site of the Woven mixed-use development last year. It will now take place at the newly renovated Mill Village Ministries in West Greenville beginning Nov. 28 and feature more than 50 vendors.
John Redgrave, owner of Oxford Barber Co. and member of the Village Business Association, said he hopes the European-inspired Christmas market will be a pinnacle of the Village community.
“This should be a launching pad for the holidays for this area; a place that invites peoples to experience the village and all it has to offer,” Redgrave said. “Our hope is that people will move about this area more and go from market to shops to restaurants and galleries.”
