Work to improve safety along Woodruff Road starting at the intersection of Roper Mountain Road and Verdae Boulevard will begin Feb. 25, SCDOT announced Feb. 23.
Safety improvements will include the addition of pedestrian signals to crosswalks and the creation of ADA-compliant ramps. Concrete islands and medians will also be constructed in order to streamline the flow of traffic through the corridor.

Road work will take place primarily at night under lane closures and is expected to continue for several months.
SCDOT encouraged drivers to plan their routes in advance and to drive safely around road work zones.
