The Furman University Department of Theatre Arts announced its 2026-27 season, “Furman Made,” will feature three shows and the college’s “Fringe Festival.”
The lineup includes:
‘Theatre/Theater’
- Oct. 15-16 and Oct. 20-22, 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 17-18, 2 p.m.; and Oct. 23, 5 p.m.
- Written by Randall David Cook and directed by Rhett Bryson, this drama goes behind the scenes of a Southern regional theater company mounting “Romeo and Juliet,” where the real action isn’t always onstage. From box office to backstage, from donor events to dressing rooms, personalities collide, egos bruise and alliances shift as the production barrels toward opening night.
‘This Is How You Say I’m Sorry’
- Nov. 18-21, 7:30 p.m.; and Nov. 21-22, 2 p.m.
- This romantic comedy is written by Imani-Grace King and directed by Caroline Jane Davis. The play follows one deeply flawed man, who is given an impossible task: apologize to every woman he’s ever hurt before he can be with the person he truly loves. Guided, and occasionally tormented, by an angel and his best friend, he stumbles through awkward confessions, supernatural interventions, unexpected musical moments and revelations he never saw coming.
‘The Beheading of Helene Gillet’
- Feb. 17-18, Feb. 20 and Feb. 23-25, 7:30 p.m.
- Feb. 19, 10:30 p.m. and Feb. 21, 5 p.m. as a double feature with Furman Music’s Sarah Reese Lyric Theatre
- Directed by Maegan McNerney Azar with music direction by Elli Caterisano, this show is inspired by true events and reimagines the story of a young woman condemned by a society eager to control her body, her voice and her fate. Set in 17th-century France and pulsing with music, movement and dark theatricality, this haunting new work explores faith, resistance and the extraordinary courage required to survive injustice.
‘Furman Fringe Festival’
- April 12-18
- Regina Wells, Show A; Bob Beshere, Show B; Jax Pratt, Show C; and a devised production by Furman students
- The Furman Made season concludes with the inaugural Furman Fringe Festival, a celebration of experimentation, collaboration and creative risk.
All shows take place in The Playhouse on the Furman campus, unless otherwise noted. Individual tickets for the four shows are $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. “Furman Fringe Festival” is $8 for general admission or a Fringe Pass option will be available with access to all four shows for $25.
