The team behind Upstate pizzeria The Slice has been steadily expanding its footprint. Now it’s taking another step.
A third location is planned for downtown Greer at 107 S. Main St., with a likely opening this summer. It already operates The Slice at 134 S. Main St. in Simpsonville and The Slice 2.0 at 119 N. Main St. in Fountain Inn.
The company also recently opened a more fine dining-forward concept, DeMarco’s Italian, at 366 Field St. in downtown Greenville.
“[DeMarco’s] was supposed to be 900 Wood Neapolitan Pizzeria,” said Mike Baldassarra, managing partner of The Slice. He said that as the menu was developed into a more refined Italian restaurant, the name no longer fit. The team decided on “DeMarco’s” after his sister-in-law and co-owner Genine DeMarco-Baldassara, but that still left the question of the 900 Wood brand.
Six or seven months ago, the team acquired the space in Greer. They considered 900 Wood there but ultimately decided to add a third location for The Slice.
Guests can expect the same menu as The Slice in Simpsonville, with its plethora of pizzas, wings, salad and The Pasta Addict pasta. The Greer location will have a full bar and should have about 60 seats.
