Charitable donations to Furman University reached $41.6 million in fiscal year 2023, the university announced Aug. 1.
It was the third consecutive fiscal year in which contributions to Furman surpassed $40 million.
“The high level of contributions we continue to receive is a tribute to the Furman community,” said President Elizabeth Davis. “We have very generous donors who believe in Furman’s direction and the positive impact their gifts have on our students, and the impact the university has on the world.”
The philanthropic contributions will go toward:
- Student scholarships
- Faculty support
- Operating funds
- Major capital projects, such as Timmons Arena renovations
With the money donated during fiscal year 2023, the university has raised $330 million in its current campaign toward a goal of $426 million by 2026.
“Donors want to be part of the excitement and success,” said Heidi Hansen McCrory, vice president for development. “The momentum is good, but we have work to do to ensure this campaign reaches and surpasses the goal.”
