Duke Energy awarded $40,000 in emergency preparedness grants to Greenville County’s Emergency Team and the city of Simpsonville.
Greenville County will use the $20,000 grant to purchase an ATV for all its agencies to utilize during severe weather emergencies, while the city of Simpsonville will use its $20,000 in funds to purchase mobile radios for the Simpsonville Fire Department.
“The grant helps keep our critical communications equipment current so that we can best serve our residents, business owners and visitors,” said City Administrator Dianna Gracely. “In a continuing effort to keep city of Simpsonville taxes among the lowest in the state, city staff has worked hard to secure funding from outside sources like Duke Energy.”
Duke Energy awarded $500,000 in emergency preparedness grants to 32 nonprofits and government agencies across the state. For a complete list of recipients, click here.
