SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities has received a $10,000 gift from Pacolet Milliken, an investment company based in Greenville, the school announced June 8.
The donation funded a series of five student art exhibitions spread between the school’s Lipscomb Gallery and Pacolet Milliken’s offices, including “Working from Tradition: Landscape Studies of Reedy Falls Park.” The show featured paintings based on studies of landscape works made by master artists from the 19th to early 20th century.

Each student worked outdoors on location to create a collection of painting sketches that would later become full-scale paintings on canvas. The students’ original sketches are on display in Pacolet Milliken’s offices in downtown Greenville.
Pacolet Milliken’s donation also funded five $1,000 scholarships to visual arts seniors:
- Grace Farnsworth
- Kat Hoover
- Christy Hudson
- Anne Hughes
- Jet Joyner

“We are so grateful for the continued financial support of Pacolet Milliken, which provides scholarships to students, upgrades to our visual arts studios, and allows us to offer unique programming,” said SCGSAH Visual Arts Department Chair David Gerhard. “We are proud to be a part of Greenville’s thriving downtown and arts community.”
Throughout the last five years, Pacolet Milliken has donated over $40,000 to the school.
