Here’s a recap of the Aug. 10 meeting of the Fountain Inn City Council.
Initial approval: Zoning ordinance update to industrial district areas
Council gave initial approval to an amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance.
The proposed change would allow utility substations or buildings of similar public service uses to be built in areas zoned for industrial use without having to apply for a special exception from the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals.
This item will go before the city council for final approval on Sept. 14.
Approved: Match funds for a MASC grant
Council approved a resolution that allows the city to pay at least $3,750 in local match funds required to receive a $25,000 hometown economic development grant from the Municipal Association of South Carolina.
The money will be used to develop and improve the city’s Trade Street Pedestrian Plaza area.
