The long-running Italian restaurant Tony’s New York Style Pizzeria has closed its doors for good after 17 years in business.
The owners made the announcement via social media on Monday Feb. 1.
“We appreciate each and every one of you who have shown us so much love and support over the last 17 years!!” the company said in a statement. “Thank you for making Tony’s NY Style Pizzeria’s family a part of your family for so many years.”
Located at 30 Orchard Park Drive in Haywood Plaza, the pizzeria was known for its large slices and tangy sauce. Founded by Tony Oddo, a native of Queens, New York, the restaurant sought to bring the recipes of Oddo’s Sicilian mother to the Upstate.
Oddo will still be working at Simpsonville’s Full House Sportiza, where he’ll still be tossing pies and “still being Tony,” according to a statement.
“We hope to see you again soon,” the company said in its final post.
