Greenville’s Director of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, Angie Prosser, received the highest honor from the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association.
The SCRPA presented the Robert L. Reid Lifetime Achievement and Hall of Fame Award at its 76th annual conference. The award honors the lifetime achievement of those in the industry who’ve had a significant affect on their communities.
“I’m shocked and honored,” Prosser said. “I never thought I’d win this award.
In her three decades with the city of Greenville, Prosser has helped plan some of the biggest events in the Upstate, like Fall for Greenville, while helping to reshape the Parks, Recreation and Tourism department. She’s been with the department since graduating from Clemson University in 1985.
The award’s namesake was a mentor for everyone in the industry, she said, and he was someone she admired, which made the award all the more special to her.
“It’s just something you can’t put into a sentence,” she said.
