Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is reminding travelers that two planned runway closures to accommodate rehabilitation work will begin Sept. 11.
The first of two 60-hour closures will begin at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, and will conclude at 8 a.m., Monday, Sept. 14. The second closure will follow the same schedule starting Friday, Sept. 18, and conclude at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21.
All aircraft operations will cease during the closures and GSP’s terminal will be closed to the public.
The runway rehabilitation and renovation work involves repaving more than 6,500 feet of runway and 11,001 feet of shoulder and safety areas, repairing concrete panels, and replacing runway markings.
In addition to the weekend closures, the project will also require overnight runway closures most nights from 11:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through Nov. 12.
