TD grant will help formulate affordable-housing plan in Unity Park area
As the city inches closer to beginning site work for its planned Unity Park, a planning grant from the TD Charitable Foundation will formulate a plan for affordable housing in the Southernside neighborhood which borders the park.

Arguably the city owns some of the most valuable and developable land in Greenville — 25 acres along the edges to a couple of blocks away from the new Unity Park. The city plans to use that land for new affordable housing to counter rising property values and housing costs around the park and in the surrounding neighborhoods near downtown that some say are squeezing lower income and working class residents out.

City Council candidates tout experience to Alta Vista residents
Filing for the three Greenville City council seats that will be up for grabs hadn’t ended yet, but that didn’t stop five candidates from starting to campaign at the Alta Vista Neighborhood Association’s meeting Tuesday night.
Beginning this summer, residents in Alta Vista, West Greenville, Southernside and Hampton-Pinckney neighborhoods will be able to jump on a trolley to get around downtown and to some of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.
