In 2004 the Greenville Braves left a huge hole in the heart of this town. We were living elsewhere and had little knowledge of Greenville, or the Upstate, or South Carolina for that matter, but baseball was in our blood and when an opportunity to start a professional team affiliated with the Boston Red Sox showed itself, we put on our proverbial cleats and went for it. We had no idea what to expect, but came for a visit, met with local leaders and made a “pitch” for the team. Well, that first visit convinced us that there was no better place in the country to own & operate the team, and soon after, it was the place to call home. So, we moved here, and in 2005 began building a stadium that opened to the public in April 2006.

Twenty years have flown by and we’ve managed to collaborate with this wonderful community to build not just an award-winning stadium, but a stronger, more unified Upstate. Baseball and ballparks at their best are entities that bring people together, that provide points of pride and recreation and family-fun. We’ve done our best to encourage this kind of unity by celebrating the everyday people that make this community work.
Suffice it to say, the Upstate has embraced our family and our team with open arms and extraordinary passion. And hopefully you’ve seen us return the favor, enhancing the game day experience year after year for you, our incredible fans. Beyond Fluor Field, the West End of Greenville has sprung to life in ways that could’ve only been dreamt about back in 2006.
So, thank you to the Upstate for 20 amazing years. It’s been a joy and an honor to have you out to the stadium. See you in April.
