The TD Bank Reedy River Run, slated for April 18, has been named the 2020 Road Runners Club of America South Carolina 10K Championship.
Now in its 43rd year, the race was selected as the regional championship in 2019, and the Road Runners Club of America typically does not pick the same race to be the same championship category, said race director Mike Caldwell.
“I think it’s a good recognition of the quality of the event,” Caldwell said. “The Road Runners Club of America has clubs all over the country and will pick regional, state and national races [for their championships]. We were the regional championship last year. Being selected [this year] adds a cherry to the top.”
The race, which started as a way to highlight revitalization of downtown Greenville, will begin and end on Main Street in downtown Greenville. Following the race, a festival will be held on the Plaza at the Peace Center with an awards presentation, food, music and vendors.
