Bon Secours Health System has teamed with Spire Motorsports and the Greenville Swamp Rabbits hockey team to present The Real Heroes Project, which honors health care workers on the frontline of the COVID-19 crisis.
As part of the partnership, the hood of Reed Sorenson’s number 77 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 hood will feature the Bon Secours logo and the Swamp Rabbits logo with a protective mask as well as the hashtag #TheRealHeroes at the May 17 Darlington Raceway NASCAR race.
“We’re excited to continue to support frontline health care workers and also have a good working relationship with the Swamp Rabbits,” said Bon Secours St. Francis Health System president Matt Caldwell. “It’s always great to recognize the real frontline heroes in healthcare, especially in times like these.”
In addition, the program selected St. Francis Downtown intensive and critical care unit nurse Stacey Wilson to have her name featured instead of Sorenson’s on the race car. Wilson, the only Bon Secours nurse honored, was chosen because of the care she gave while working on one of the hospital units that was heavily involved in treating COVID-19 positive patients.
“I am honored to be picked,” said Wilson. “It’s been pretty exciting. I wasn’t really sure what all of this [the honor] was going to entail. A lot of people deserved this [honor].”
