St. Joseph’s Ava Dobson finished her final South Carolina High School state championship race with a new state meet best of 16 minutes, 58 seconds at Class A/AA State Championships today in Camden. Dobson ran the same course last weekend at the state qualifying meet in 17:24.

The previous best was 17:36, held by Kate Niehaus of Spring Valley since 2003.

Dobson’s time is ranked 15th in the nation, according to MileSplit.com. The Knight committed last week to attend University of North Carolina-Chapel.
