Michelle Shain is the new interim executive director for the United Way of Greenville County’s OnTrack Greenville program.

OnTrack Greenville began in four middle schools and is now in place across the school district. The program works with students to help them become high school graduates and to achieve post-secondary success.

Prior to joining United Way, Shain was interim president and CEO of The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. Other past professional roles for Shain include her work as director of philanthropy for neurology, gerontology and academics for Greenville Health System (now Prisma Health), director of community relations for Furman University, executive director of Greenville County First Steps, and vice president of the Greenville Community Foundation. Shain was also interim president of the Community Foundation of Greenville and interim executive director of A Child’s Haven and the YWCA.

Shain served as an at-large member of Greenville City Council from 1999-2007, during which time she served as the chair of Economic Development Committee.

“Michelle has dedicated her career to working to improve the lives of others in Greenville County, especially children,” said Meghan Barp, president and CEO of United Way of Greenville County. “Her incredible wealth of experience, combined with her passion to see young people succeed, makes her an excellent choice to lead OnTrack’s charge into the future.”
