Citing COVID-19 reducing staff and increasing visitors, South Carolina State Parks announced that all state parks will be closed on March 25 and 26.
“With the increased number of visitors and decreased staff sizes due to COVID-19, we have made the decision to close parks for day-use on Wednesday (3/25) and Thursday (3/26) of this week,” said South Carolina State Parks in a statement. “These closures will help our staff recover from the additional workload that has been required and give us an opportunity to make decisions on how to operate parks while keeping employees safe. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work through some operational issues due to these closings.”
While the parks will be closed, visitors with cabin or camping reservations will still be allowed to check in. However, no new cabin reservations will be accepted through May 7. Visitors are also encouraged to pay cabin or campsite balances online or by phone.
