Soteria Community Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization providing aid to men reentering society after incarceration, will host its annual fundraiser as a virtual silent auction Nov. 3-4 and live event on Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
“As we are reeling from things in our nation, we need to be thinking about what we can do in our communities,” said Soteria CDC founder and CEO Jerry Blassingame. “I will be speaking on Nov. 5, and the title of my message will be ‘Hope: Where the Future Begins.’”
The theme for this year’s event is “Reclaim Solidarity,” and the silent auction will feature local art and handcrafted pieces made in the nonprofit’s wood shop.
Proceeds from the event will be used to help provide:
- Housing, transportation and education for men who are released from prison with nowhere else to go
- Mentoring, financial literacy, spiritual development and job training for program participants
- Tools and equipment for the organization’s wood shop
