The Upstate’s very own U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) didn’t hold back yesterday after President Donald J. Trump announced his intentions to attach a 20 percent tariff on goods from Mexico, funds which would be then be used for to build a wall between the U.S. and our south of the border neighbors.
Critics claim that such a tariff would actually be a tax on the American people since it would drive up the price of manufactured goods and produce imported from Mexico.
As with yesterday’s response to a satirical piece by The Onion, Graham wasn’t afraid to crack wise.
Border security yes, tariffs no. Mexico is 3rd largest trading partner. Any tariff we can levy they can levy. Huge barrier to econ growth /1

Simply put, any policy proposal which drives up costs of Corona, tequila, or margaritas is a big-time bad idea. Mucho Sad. (2)
