Modal, a modern hostel, combines boutique B&B and hostel-style rooms to offer up to 28 guests a unique cultural experience in Greenville.

Co-owners Joe Hindman and David Stone recently secured the official city permit and plan to complete renovations on a former dentist office at 813 Augusta St. in time to open by the end of the year.

With local food, music, and art, Modal seeks to blend culture and community for both longtime residents and visitors of our southern town. Modal will include up to five guest rooms with three being dormitory style and two being more private.

The owners plan to incorporate lots of artwork in the space with each room featuring a local artist.

Three years ago, Modal was publicly launched and the community participated in a crowd-funding campaign for the local lodging alternative.

“With Greenville growing at a rapid rate, the developmental process for non-traditional concepts takes even longer,” Hindman says. “We’re grateful though that this extended waiting period has given us ample time to ensure the design and function of our property meets every need for our future guests.”
