South Carolina Department of Revenue agents arrested Luai Mohammad Zoheir Jridi, the operator of VaporWize vape shop in Greenville, on Sept. 9 and charged him with four counts of tax evasion.
According to arrest warrants, Jridi reported sales from 2015 to 2018 totaling $178,801 when his actual sales were $1,214,727. By underreporting his sales, he evaded $60,556 in state sales tax.
If convicted, Jridi faces up to five years in prison and a fine of $10,000 per count, plus the cost of prosecution. He is being held in the Greenville County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.
