The Duke Energy Foundation has launched a $175,000 initiative to fund revitalization projects in communities across South Carolina, the foundation announced Aug. 18.
The Main Street Revitalization program is open to government entities and qualified nonprofits for grants of up to $10,000 for projects centered on creating vibrant places to live, work and gather while supporting long-term economic growth and development in downtown areas.
The initiative seeks to support projects that enhance downtown districts, neighborhood centers and commercial corridors.
Eligible projects may include:
- Facade improvements
- Streetscape enhancements
- Public gathering spaces
- Wayfinding signage tied to an existing master plan
- Blighted building renovations
- Landscaping and beautification efforts
- Downtown greenway connections
- Small business incentive programs or microgrants
