Greer’s list of amenities will soon include a public golf course.
The city is in the midst of acquiring the Greer Golf & Country Club on Gap Creek Road, City Administrator Ed Driggers said.
The 34-acre property and its buildings are currently under contract. The purchase amount hasn’t yet been disclosed to the public.
Greer City Council approved the purchase of the 64-year-old club in December.
The city will assume the debt and assets of the club — including its employees — and intends to operate the facility as a public golf course.
It’ll be one of only six municipal courses in South Carolina, according to the city.
“We’re continuing to invest in quality of amenities like parks and recreation, green spaces, and now this golf course,” Driggers said.
