Cherokee Valley Course and Club was recently recognized as one of Golf Inc. magazine’s Most Innovative Golf Courses.
Cherokee Valley, located in Travelers Rest, will be honored along with Seville Golf and Country Club in Gilbert, Arizona, at the Golf Inc. Innovation Strategy Conference, April 20-21 in Nashville. The golf course was chosen based on its golf and non-golf programming, membership plans and how it has grown its game initiative.
“Community and family focus drives our decision making, programming and culture,” said owner Matt Jennings. “We are here to serve and make golf approachable for everyone. This is executed by a team committed to customer service but also challenged to think creatively to make the experience here unforgettable.”
Jennings credits the Cherokee Valley’s ability to cater to groups beyond the typical golf audience as one reason the golf course was recognized.
“Golf programming isn’t limited to the traditional target audience,” Jennings said. “We create events that engage myriad demographics, such as nine-hole family putting contests and women’s wine and nines. Non-golf even more so, ranging from our popular Adopt a Hole program to craft beer pairing dinners and Super Bowl parties. And we aren’t afraid to utilize the golf course and practice range for non-golf events and activities.”
