The United States Census Bureau announced it will begin to drop off 2020 Census questionnaire packets at the front doors of approximately 61,300 South Carolina households, including an estimated 8,600 Greenville county residences.
These packets will be distributed in areas where a majority of the households do not receive mail at their physical address. On March 15, the Census Bureau began hand-delivering census materials, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it suspended distribution on March 18.
Temporary field staff, who have received training on social distancing protocols, will wear government-provided personal protective equipment while conducting contactless delivery of the questionnaire packets.
The Census Bureau asks recipients to respond quickly to the 2020 Census online, by phone or by paper form using the ID number included in the questionnaire packet.
