Heal a family and we all get better
The Family Effect is the philanthropic arm of the Phoenix Center supporting treatment centers underneath the Phoenix Center umbrella. Serenity Place is a residential treatment facility for mothers and their preschool-aged children recovering from substance abuse.
Jamie came to Serenity Place in a dark space. Like many mothers that come to Serenity Place, her addiction was coming between her relationship with her and her child. Her son Oakley was no longer in her custody and she was living in beat-up hotels and doing everything it took to maintain her high. She felt alone and was living with untreated postpartum depression. Jamie completed 90 days in residential treatment and chose to continue her recovery in the step-down program known as the LOTUS Program.
Jamie states: “It has been a long road, but today I have goals and ambitions and I never settle for less than I deserve. In one year, I have changed everything in my life, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Today, Jamie is a strong, independent mother who is proud of the person she is and the life she can give her son. Since moving out of Serenity Village, Jamie has moved into an apartment, continued her education at Greenville Tech and recently got a full-time job! She has a community of support around her and is full of hope for her and Oakley’s future.
