Prisma Health Children’s Hospital opened its newest satellite location June 6 at Greer Memorial Hospital, expanding round-the-clock services for children.
The new location at 830 S. Buncombe Road in Greer will offer care for a number of diagnoses, including respiratory illnesses, asthma flare-ups, dehydration, fever in babies, jaundice and skin infections. The facilities will be available for all children up to 18 years old who don’t require intensive or specialty care.
The new location will staff specially trained pediatric health care professionals, such as doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists. It will facilitate telehealth consultations as well. The hospital will also have Child Life Services, which help children and their families cope with the stress of hospital stays.
Board certified physician Dr. Teresa Williams will lead the department that will also provide a nursery for the 1,000 babies born there each year. A five-year veteran of Prisma Health, she is certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics.
“I’m thrilled to bring the Children’s Hospital care commitment to the families in Greer,” Williams said. “Knowing that our specially trained team will be available around the clock to help children will hopefully be a real comfort to families who may have previously had to travel farther for that extra level of treatment,” she said.
Prisma also has a children’s unit at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, along with a dedicated children’s facility at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital, 701 Grove Road, Greenville.
