Bon Secours St. Francis Health System announced it will begin relaxing visitor restrictions at its Greenville hospitals beginning May 29. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the health care corporation had previously restricted visitors from its hospitals.
Going forward, daily visiting hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and each non-COVID-19 patient will be allowed one visitor per day. In addition, women in labor may have two support people with them, but the one-visitor restriction will be enforced post delivery in the mother/infant unit and neonatal intensive care unit.
Visitors will also be required to follow precautions including:
- Having a temperature check and appropriate symptom/exposure screening prior to entry to the facility. If a visitor presents with a fever or symptoms suggestive of possible COVID-19 infection, he or she will not be permitted to enter.
- Wearing a mask during the visit and complying with hand hygiene and cough etiquette.
- Visitors will be encouraged to remain in the patient’s rooms and alert nursing staff when they are leaving.
Bon Secours will continue its no-visitor policy for those in areas caring for potential COVID-19 patients and the Cancer Center. Visitors over age 15 will be allowed, but older persons and those with comorbid conditions associated with increased risk of COVID-19 are encouraged to avoid visitation.
