Bon Secours, in partnership with Compass Surgical Partners, announced it had broken ground for its new Millennium Surgery Center, a state-of-the-art facility that offers robotic outpatient joint, orthopedic and spine procedures, along with ear, nose and throat procedures.
The 20,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center — medical facilities that offer same-day care — will have six operating rooms and two procedure rooms and is located at Bon Secours St. Francis Millennium campus off Innovation Drive in Greenville.
It will be the first ASC in the Upstate to offer robotic joint replacement, according to Scott Bacon, Compass vice president of business development. Robotic joint procedures are similar to ordinary joint-replacement procedures, except the surgery is done with the assistance of robotic arms.
“That means cutting-edge care, at lower costs, for patients in Greenville and the surrounding areas,” he said.
The facility will offer outpatient procedures that were previously entirely done at the hospital, allowing for efficient, cost-effective care. It’s expected to open in 2024.
“As a physician, I’m very excited for the patient access this will bring and proud that we’ll soon have the ability to serve our community even better,” said Dr. Michael Sims, an orthopedic surgeon with Bon Secours Piedmont Orthopaedics.
