With falls being one of the leading threats to the wellbeing and independence of older adults, the Bon Secours St. Francis LifeWise program will host a free education and awareness event at McAllister Square Sept. 22.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon. It is part of the health system’s efforts to help community members better understand their risks and learn practical strategies to prevent falls on National Falls Prevention Awareness Day.
The event will feature expert speakers, community partners, resource tables and interactive educational sessions focused on helping older adults remain healthy and independent.
“Preventing falls is about much more than avoiding injury,” said Susan Cannon, LifeWise program coordinator for Bon Secours St. Francis, in a statement announcing the event. “It’s about helping older adults maintain their confidence, continue doing the things they enjoy and preserve their independence for as long as possible.”
The event is free, though registration is encouraged. To sign up for the event or learn more about the Bon Secours St. Francis LifeWise program, visit bonsecours.com.
