A multi-year improvement effort was completed to modernize Greenville Senior High School’s Sirrine Stadium.
Upgrades to the historic football stadium included adding new artificial turf, repainting the concrete and facilities and installing a new digital video board. The project was supported by a $465,000 capital campaign led by the Greenville All-Sports Booster Club along with funding from the Greenville County School District.
Greenville Senior High School held a dedication ceremony for the stadium’s new video board on Aug. 21 ahead of the Raiders’ home season openers against Fountain Inn High School. The board was named the “Lawson Family Legacy” in honor of the capital campaign’s lead donor, Jeff Lawson and his family.
“This stadium has always meant something special to our family, and it’s an honor to be part of its future,” Lawson said.
The dedication ceremony also recognized TowneBank as the board’s title sponsor. David Lominack, South Carolina president of TowneBank, said the project was personal for him as a Greenville High graduate.
“TowneBank has found a home in Greenville through its partnership with Dogwood State Bank, completed earlier this year, and is honored to make this investment in the city that shaped so many of us,” Lominack said.
The Greenville All-Sports Booster Club and high school completed three years of fundraising for the capital campaign. Other donors to the capital campaign include:
