Effective March 1, Greenville County Schools will drop Test-to-Stay and quarantine programs in light of low COVID-19 infection rates.
That means that all district campuses and facilities can resume normal operations and suspend until further notice contact tracing, social distancing and mask requirements for all students and staff, post-exposure, the district announced Feb. 28.
The decision is based on the district’s review of two weeks’ worth of data showing less than 0.3% of students and staff tested positive for the disease, districtwide, while COVID-19-related absences stayed below 10% at all campus and district facilities.
If a school or location reaches 10% of its students and staff absent due to COVID-19 over two consecutive one-week periods, the district will reinstate contact tracing, Test-to-Stay and quarantine practices in that location in accordance with state requirements, according to the district’s announcement.
Any students who have symptoms of COVID-19 or test positive for COVID-19 are still required by DHEC to be excluded from school and should report their symptoms or positive test results to the school.
