Students in Greenville County Schools will be eLearning on Feb. 2 and 3.
Schools and office buildings across the district will be closed for Monday and Tuesday. GCS has also canceled all activities, including athletic events and field trips, previously scheduled on both days.
The school district’s Inclement Conditions Evaluation Team determined that the snow and ice accumulation over the weekend, along with forecasted freezing temperatures, may result in continued unsafe road conditions on Monday and Tuesday. Crews will also need to clear campus entries and driveways once it’s safe.
Schools will be in contact with specifics for the eLearning days. Students may complete assignments later if they are unable to participate due to power outages, lack of internet service or other barriers. GCS is an approved eLearning district, so the two school days will not have to be made up.
The school district will make a decision about in-person instruction for Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the afternoon on Tuesday.
