Here is a recap of the Fountain Inn City Council meeting on Feb. 12.
Final approval: Property sale and lease with Greenville County Schools
Council approved an agreement to sell 1.2 undeveloped acres at 610 Fairview St. to Greenville County Schools and a lease to use Fountain Inn Elementary School’s facilities.
Following the sale, the property will be used to accommodate a larger drop-off zone at Fountain Inn Elementary School, so it can be expanded to include sixth through eighth grades. The purchase price for the 1.2 acres is confidential until the Greenville County School Board takes official action to approve.
Under the lease agreement, from Aug. 1, 2028, through July 31, 2033, the city will pay GCS $1 each year to be able to use Fountain Inn Elementary School’s facilities, including gymnasiums, playing/recreation fields and playground area.
Approved: Contract for building official and inspection services
Council approved a contract with Pro South Construction LLC to serve as the city’s building official and inspection services provider.
Fountain Inn previously paid for these services in a pay-by-the-hour contract, but by working with Pro South Construction, the city will move to a percentage-based fee structure. The new contract is expected to save the city 20% in fees for building official and inspection services.
Other items
Council unanimously gave final approval to two items.
- INNtheZone, a unified development code designed to modernize the city’s development regulations, improve clarity and usability, and align its regulatory framework with the recently adopted INNvision Comprehensive Plan.
- An annexation request for 10.14 acres at 405 Milacron Drive / North Nelson Drive. The applicant, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, represented by Andy Goldsmith, plans to build a church on the property.
