The Bosch Community Fund recently awarded a $25,000 grant to the Greenville Tech Foundation.
The grant will go towards Greenville Technical College’s mechatronics and bachelor’s in applied science in advanced manufacturing programs. Both programs prepare students for high-demand careers in the manufacturing industry.
Adolph Lanza, vice president of commercial at Bosch Rexroth, said the company is honored to collaborate with an organization that sets the standard for exceptional education in the Greenville area.
“The Greenville Tech Foundation shares our dedication to providing strategic initiatives to education that help close the gaps in opportunity and achievement for local students,” Lanza said.
Robotics and accompanying software, training, and teaching materials will be purchased with the funding. More than 500 students will be able to work with the latest technology used in the industry.
Dean Kelvin Byrd of GTC’s School of Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation Technology said the college can prepare students for the growing manufacturing industry with community supporters like Bosch.
“By investing in our Mechatronics and BAS programs, the Bosch Community Fund is investing in the future of Greenville’s manufacturing industry,” Byrd said.
