Greenville County Schools will open the 2021-2022 school year enrollment Dec. 1-4 for kindergarten and first grade students.
Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2021, must enroll in public or private kindergarten unless the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver. In addition, a child who will be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2021, must enroll in first grade, but current GCS 4K or 5K program students do not need to register.
Parents may register their children through the GCS website’s Parent section and set up a Backpack account. Once it’s set up, parents should look for the Enroll a Student option and follow the instructions.
Parents without internet access may visit the school and complete the Student Enrollment Form and Home Language Survey form.
Whether a family registers online or in person, they must present or submit the following documents:
- Photo ID from any state or country
- Two current proof of residency documents with the property address. These may include current bills, current mortgage statement or current signed lease agreement with landlord’s name and phone number
- Child’s birth certificate
- Signed Certificate of Immunization, Conditional Certificate of Immunization or Religious Exemption Certificate by the Health Department
GCS will also be offering its virtual program for grades 5K-12 in 2021-2022. The school district will post an application for this program in early spring of 2021. Participants must be registered or enrolled in GCS to apply for the virtual program.
Parents wishing to find out where their children will attend kindergarten or first grade may call the GCS INFOLine at 864-355-3100 or visit public.greenville.k12.sc.us.
