The Television Academy Foundation announced Ryan Jones, a Woodmont High School alumnus, has been nominated for a College Television award.
The Brigham Young University senior’s production “Thanksgiving” is part of the comedy series category of the awards ceremony. If Jones wins, he will receive the inaugural Chance Perdomo Legacy Scholarship, a $10,000 award created by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios as a tribute to the late Gen V actor Chance Perdomo who died in a motorcycle accident in 2024.
“Thanksgiving” focuses on Jason, who wants to get Thanksgiving dinner over with, but finds himself trapped with his family in a time loop.
“I chose to tell this story because its themes are so universal,” said Jones. “Most people experience moments of feeling lost or disconnected, much like the prodigal son. The film reflects how family, whether biological or found, can serve as a lifeline and a source of hope. I wanted to explore how compassion and grace can pull us back from isolation.”
The College Television Awards will hold its ceremony March 28 at the Television Academy in North Hollywood, California. For more information, televisionacademy.com.
