Meridian Waste, a curbside solid waste contractor that works with the city of Greer, announced at the Aug. 10 Greer City Council meeting it will begin a new collection schedule the week of Aug. 30.
The updated schedule, which will move from three days to five, will affect almost 40% of the city’s households.
“I’ve always been a big proponent of being here every day,” said Meridian COO Dave Lavender. “That way, if something happens, we’ll be here and more responsive. We’re going to be putting some additional equipment here so we can anticipate and be ready for the growth, which is very important. But we’re not going to change any of the services, so everyone will still have the same garbage, recycling and yard waste picked up in the same day. We’re just going to be moving a few routes so they’ll be picked up on Thursday and Friday.”
The impacted neighborhoods and their new collection days are listed below:

Although Meridian is expanding the number of days it is servicing Greer, residents will bear no additional expenses, said the city of Greer in a news release.
In addition, the company will be notifying the approximately 4,500 affected households about their new collection days by postcards during the week of Aug. 16. Meridian will also place reminder hangers on roll carts in the impacted neighborhoods the following week.
Households that are unaffected by the new schedule will not receive notifications.
