Three Greenville County Scouts, Grace Guerrero, Ashley Chittum and Madelyn Reed, have joined the inaugural female BSA Eagle Scout class.
Guerrero, who earned her Eagle Scout rank on Oct. 31, 2020, is a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and the Fine Arts Center. She is a 2020 South Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship recipient and is currently attending Winthrop University.
She focused her Eagle Scout project on beautifying the Leroy Smith Trail and Pleasant Ridge Falls at Pleasant Ridge County State Park by adding new handmade benches, landscaping and erosion conservation measures.
Guerrero also serves as assistant scoutmaster to Troop 815, which meets at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mauldin.

Joining her in this Eagle Scout class is J.L. Mann High School freshman and varsity softball player Ashley Chittum. She started in BSA Scouts as a founding member of Troop 815 and went onto found Troop 420G at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville.
Her Eagle Scout project was building two fishing ports at YMCA Camp Greenville to make fishing accessible to campers of all physical abilities. She also completed her requirements on Oct. 31, 2020.
Chittum remains an active member of Troop 420G.

Rounding out the three Eagle Scouts is Mauldin High School senior Madelyn Reed. She was also a founding member of Troop 815 and joined Chittum in founding Troop 420G.
Since joining BSA in 2019, she has served as assistant patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader.
Reed’s Eagle Scout project was building a dog agility course at Concerned Citizens for Animals in Simpsonville, a no-kill animal shelter. She worked with CCA to develop the course, which may make the dogs more adoptable by helping engage them and improve their spirits.
She completed her Eagle Scout Requirements on Jan. 21, 2021, and similar to Chittum, she remains active with Troop 420G.
