The Reedy River Duck Derby will be held virtually on July 11 at 2:30 p.m. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the ducks will not go over the Falls River falls to race to the finish line as usual.
All entries will be assigned a number, which will be run through a random-number generator to pick the winners. Once the lucky ducks are chosen, the results will be delivered in a sealed briefcase to Gordon Dill of WSPA-TV, who will announce the winners.
Ducks are available to purchase until 9:30 a.m. on July 11. Participants may choose a single duck for $10 or a four-duck “quack pack” for $30. Proceeds from the Duck Derby will benefit local charities and nonprofits, which will be named at a later date. Last year’s recipients included United Ministries, the Roper Mountain Science Center, Chicora Voices and Girls on the Run.
